PTFE tape (chemical name is PTFE) is a commonly used auxiliary product in plumbing installation, which is used at the pipe fitting connection to enhance the tightness of the pipe connection. PTFE tape is a novel and ideal sealing material. Due to its non-toxic, odorless, excellent sealing, insulation, and corrosion resistance, it is widely used in water treatment, natural gas, chemical industry, plastics, electronic engineering and other fields.

In daily life, we sometimes install angle valves, faucets, water pipes, etc. by ourselves, and it is always not good to wrap the PTFE tape, and the faucet is always leaking and seeping, what is going on? How do you wrap the PTFE tape?

1. First remove the foreign matter from the part to be connected to the PTFE tape, and then wind it inward along the outer edge of the pipe wire.

2. Pay attention to the winding direction, taking the angle valve as an example, when the angle valve is screwed into the inner wire thread in the wall, it rotates clockwise to the right, then the direction in which we wrap the PTFE tape on the angle valve is to the left counterclockwise, so that when the angle valve is tightened, it will be tighter and tighter, and it will not loosen. During the winding process, pay attention to the flatness of the PTFE tape to ensure that the wire mouth is completely wrapped by the PTFE tape.

3. When winding, the PTFE tape should be tightened, so that the PTFE tape is tightly attached to the thread, as tight as possible, do not wrap loosely, and press it tightly by hand after winding, or you can wrap it while pressing. Wrap 2-3 times, and the edge of the wire mouth is slightly thicker than the PTFE tape on the inside of the wire mouth.

4. There is no hard and fast rule as for winding "several layers", which can be tightened and does not leak, but according to experience, it usually needs to be wound more than ten times to ensure the sealing effect. Once the wrapping is complete, pinch it with the finger loop to make it fit perfectly with the silk mouth.

5. Don't screw the thread to death, it doesn't have to be screwed until it can't be screwed, as long as the feel can be strong when screwing. In addition, it is necessary to pay attention to the depth of screwing, such as the two bent feet of the cold and hot water mixing valve, and pay attention to keeping the distance out of the wall consistent when screwing, especially when the depth of the two inner wire elbows in the wall is inconsistent. Hold the wrapped connector and screw it into place in a clockwise direction.

If you want to avoid water leakage and water seepage at the pipeline interface, in addition to mastering the correct winding method of PTFE tape, you must also use a PTFE tape with reliable quality.
